Month 4 Blogging Report – 78K Page Views, $500 Revenue…Feeling Of Gratitude
The end of June marks the close of the 4th month on Making Momentum. It’s been a wild, enjoyable and surprising ride so far. I really didn’t know what I was getting into when I decided to start this. And my only regret is that I didn’t start this sooner.
4 months. 66 posts. And a million lessons learned and thoughts for the road ahead.
The personal gains and skill development I’ve seen run across my finances, digital marketing, networking, writing, researching, creative thought process and general mindset towards money, work and life. Those gains come from learning and connecting with other members of the awesome community and the exploratory work I’ve done personally.
As I’ll touch on in the bigger section following the month 4 blogging blog report, the thing I most wanted to highlight was the gratitude I feel towards the community.
This month in particular has been a big one in terms on the ‘vanity metrics’ of blogging.
From June 1 – 27, Making Momentum has seen the below results.
- Page Views: 78,021
- Sessions: 65,339
- Revenue: $500.22
- Pinterest Monthly Viewers: 1.7 million
- Email List Growth: +121
It’s fun to see the growth and results thus far as the hours put into this have been quite substantial. Do I expect those metrics to fall? Hopefully not, but realistically yes.
There is an infinite road of work and opportunity ahead that I can’t wait to tackle head on.
Most Popular Posts After 4 Months
Including interviews, roundups and original content, I’ve published 66 posts and counting to Making Momentum.
The below posts have garnered the most views and/or engagement to date.

The freebie resource that has been the most effective for conversions and engagement is the Free Personal Finance Resource Starter Kit.
The kit features resources and content to help take control of your money and life. Including recommendations on 15 books, 15 podcasts, 35 blogs and 29 money apps/services.
Some of the tools that have helped my short journey in this blogging world so far are noted below. These assist with productivity, content creation, content sharing and day-to-day management.
There are dozens of free plug ins, apps and services that I use consistent to most bloggers. However, the ones below are the tools I pay for to support Making Momentum (minus the people).
The biggest tool for success has been the people. Hands down.
That includes the people reading Making Momentum and the great group of bloggers and podcasters sharing, connecting and showing some love. From the lessons learned on blogging to the positive reinforcement of getting comments, emails and messages, the people have been the most impactful factor to date.
Podcasts, blogs, social media, forums, courses, videos…so many people have helped make this rewarding.
Tailwind has been a major driving factor to increasing my traffic and engagement this month. Specifically, Tailwind Tribes. As well as the benefit of scheduling pins, digging into the Tailwind analytics and taking Pinterest more seriously since I’m paying for the tools.
Tribes are like Group Boards but better, way better. In my experience, Tribe members are way more engaged, supportive and effective, based on the results I’ve seen thus far. The power of having other bloggers and content creators with much bigger followings and influence share your pins across their boards, opens major opportunities for engagement and clicks.
The only way I got to 78K page views in June was because of Tailwind and through 3-4 of my Pins going ‘viral’ (specifically 1 post).
Take the results from this pin for example, I attribute that to Tailwind.
And the growth in comparing my monthly viewers from late-May until present day. I attribute that to Tailwind as well.
If you want to get started with Tailwind, you can get a $15 free credit by using my link (and I’ll get $15 credit as well so thank you).
ConvertKit is the email service provider I decided to roll with from the jump off. I’d heard time and time again about how intuitive, user-friendly and flexible their platform was. And it was all true (even better than expected).
The opt-in forms, auto-responders, sequences, tagging, segmentation and content delivery tools make ConvertKit the perfect fit for my needs.
It’s easy to use and for what’s required on Making Momentum, it checks all the boxes. It makes growing my email list and communicating with them, so effective and time efficient.
If you’re looking to upgrade or on the fence about what ESP to use with your blog or business, ConvertKit gets my vote.
Snappa is my tool of choice for creating graphics for the blog and social sharing. The library includes 50,000+ free stock licensed photos, tons of icons, custom fonts, templates, tutorials, etc.
Easy to use, friendly for beginners and great customer support.
I love it. I recommend Snappa to anyone.
It saves me a ton of time and does everything I could need from a graphic standpoint for the blog. If you want to use my affiliate link to sign up, that’s cool and thank you! If you’re on the fence, you can do a free trial to get to know the platform better.
4 Months And Counting…
So in a nutshell, that’s where I stand after 4 months.
Am I hungry to keep learning, growing and connecting? Yes.
Do I need to improve my writing and create more impactful, unique content? Yes.
Am I enjoying this? Hell yes.
With that out of the way, let’s shift to what I really wanted to say after 4 months of blogging.
This week something awesome happened that really sparked a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude towards the whole blogging and podcasting community I’ve been able to connect with, directly or indirectly, thanks to launching Making Momentum.
Leaning in and starting a blog has opened up so much for me already in just 4 short months. I can only imagine where this will be in a year, 2 years…5 years.
So what sparked this feeling of gratitude and what am I grateful for with Making Momentum over these 4 months?
On Monday of this week I opened my email to find an awesome surprise: a congratulations message on receiving a FinCon Scholarship.
Wow! I filled out that application form and never expected to get one.
This year’s FinCon Expo 2018 is taking place in Orlando, FL from September 26 – 29. And thanks to the amazing team at FinCon and Rockstar Finance, I will be heading there!
I am beyond thankful and humbled for the opportunity. I can’t so THANK YOU enough to:
- John at ESI Money and Rockstar Finance
- Philip Taylor at PT Money and FinCon
- Nick True from FinCon and Mapped Out Money
- Jessica Bufkin from FinCon
- Anyone else who was part of the selection process
I can 100% guarantee I will be making the most of this opportunity and using it as a springboard to learn, grow and connect with other content creators, sponsors, influencers and anyone else I can. I can’t wait to get down to Orlando and connect with all the awesome people I’ve met online.
Getting that email gave me a moment to reflect and really let the feeling of gratitude spread.

The next round of gratitude I felt was to the awesome bloggers who’ve taken the time to participate in a Momentum Series Interview.

Pete from Do You Even Blog has been an AMAZING resource for all things blogging as I try to learn the ropes in this wild world. Each of his posts, like How To Monetize a Blog for example, are full of actionable advice rooted in helping fellow bloggers reach their goals.

That feeling of gratitude then extended to podcasts. If you’ve read the blog, you know I love podcasts.
Through the wonders of the free content delivered via my earbuds every day, I’ve been able to dive head first into an MBA on blogging and personal finance. Thanks to the hosts and their guests for the amazing knowledge and inspiration they share for FREE.

The Whole Community Of Smart, Funny, Talented & Great People
I’ve been lucky enough to connect with some great people in the community. The insights they share, amazing content they create and fun rapport they bring to the table deliver something I didn’t expect to experience by starting a blog.
I have big time gratitude for the community.
The camaraderie and support is definitely the most surprising thing about blogging. Well at least from my experience in the personal finance community has been that. I don’t know if other niches are like that but PF Twitter, PF Pinterest and the Rockstar Community have made this first 4 months a fun ride.
Where do I even start?!?
So many talented and inspiring people. Whether they’ve shared or featured my content, commented on a post or given me motivation from their awesome work…

There are over 100 other names I should be noting above, sorry for forgetting anyone! I hope to get the chance to meet as many of the PF blogging community at FinCon in September.
The road ahead is going to be bumpy, stressful and challenging. I’m sure I will hit some burn out eventually here. But I am so motivated to take it head on and keep learning, improving, growing and connecting.
The biggest thing I really wanted to highlight here in the month 4 blogging report is the honest gratitude I feel.
To close, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes.
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning.” – Albert Einstein.
I’m looking forward to learning, living and hoping.
